The Smith Center was dedicated and opened on November 5, 1995. The building is located in the Merrill Area Recreation Complex, commonly referred to as the MARC. The MARC is conveniently located off State Highway 107 just 5 miles west of US Highway 51. The Smith Center accommodates indoor hockey, ice skating, small trade shows and public meetings. The facility also includes locker rooms, spectator seating, kitchen/food facilities and a display area.

The Merrill Health and Fitness Club is also located in the Smith Center. The club offers free weights and a treadmill. Daily visits are $2.00. Annual membership fees are $50.00.

The versatility of the Smith Center is unlimited. Possible uses are open to your imagination, creativity or special needs. The main arena is used for ice skating activities from October through March, and is available for other activities during the other six months of the year. The multi-purpose room is available throughout the entire year. Full food, beverage, and banquet services are available.
