The cable television advisory committee, known as the CATV Committee, is appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Common Council. The Committee advises the City regarding cable television and related technology and promotes and develops access to the cable television public access channel. In addition, the CATV Committee conducts any preliminary inquiry into the Cable Television Company's performance under the franchise granted under the City's Cable Television ordinance and advises the Common Council on any franchise application or renewal. The Committee may consider subscriber complaints or concerns regarding the Cable Television System in the City of Merrill and resolve those complaints with the cable television franchisee. The Committee is also responsible for establishing and implementing rules and procedures for the operation of any Access Channel on the cable system. The CATV
Committee consists of one alderperson, one person having knowledge in
the field of cable television electronics and three citizen members who
hold subscriptions with a Grantee under this Chapter, and one (1) shall
be appointed based on the recommendation of the Merrill Area Public
School District Board of Education and shall serve as a representative
of the Merrill Area Public School District.
